Zemanta Related Posts ThumbnailFortunate are those, who could listen to Pt. Mukul Shivputra. I consider myself utterly fortunate as I could attend and enjoy a few of concerts given by Pt. Mukul Shivputra. Son of legendary Pt. Kumar Gandharva, Mukul Shivputra is certainly the best vocalist alive today. His music is haunting, it haunts you for years; so difficult it is to ignore and forget his music. Pt. Mukul Shivputra  is an ocean in terms of content of his music, his unique style of presenting music and the afterthoughts it lives in the minds of listeners.

He has a mystic and careless look; which puts him above all musicians. He is not bothered it seems about all the things about which other performers always worry- audience, fame, publicity, and so on. Once his concert was arranged at Vasantotsav, Pune. He announced that he would sing Raga Malkauns, but did not sing anything. Finally, Rahul Deshpande took ahead the concert. I have recorded all the concerts given by him; recordings will be shared with those who are truly interested.

    Dear Mandar

    I am a complete novice in the appreciation of classical music. One day when I exploring youtube, I came across a recording of Pt. Mukul Shivaputra. It was Jamuna kinarey …

    My God, it was so wonderful … I now listen to it once every few days.

    I would dearly love to hear more of his music. I have found a few more recordings, but if you can direct me to a good source, I would be very grateful.

      Hi Shyam. A few high quality recordings of Pt. Mukul Shivputra are available as music albums in music stores. I have a collection of a few of his concerts, which I can happily share with you.

    आज या महान व्यक्तीच्या पायांना स्पर्श केला. आज अचानक कोहिनूर मंगल कार्यालयासमोर ते दिसले. जाऊन भेटलो नमस्कार केला. काल संध्याकाळी ‘कुणी जाल का..’ ऐकत होतो, मी असे ऐकले आहे की, एकदा कवी अनिल पंडित कुमार गंधर्व यांचेकडे मुक्कामाला होते. रात्री उशिरा पंडित मुकुल जी गात होते, ते अनिलांनी ऐकले, मग त्यांना जे सुचले ते म्हणजे ही कविता “कुणी जाल का” जे पुढे पंडित वसंतराव देशपांडे नी अजरामर केले.
    हे बरोबर आहे का?
