The Act-less Act….

The theory of Karma  is very similar to Newton’s third law of motion.Third law says that there is equal and opposite reaction to every action. The theory of Karma believes that whatever you do,the very act produces its own fruits. To put it in other words, each and every act you do, it leaves behind an impression. And what you will get back will depend on this impression. It is believed that the cycles of birth and death continue till this wheel of Karma or this wheel of act rotates. The most significant point is that one is freed from these cycles if his wheel stops.

Now one solution to this question is that you should do nothing so that no force will be imparted to your wheel of Karma. But as far as I feel,to impart motion to the wheel,it is not at all needed that you have to DO something.Even the desires have the power to rotate the wheel. It is almost impossible to be action less these days and it is totally impossible to be desire less by doing nothing. So I totally reject this idea of being action less.

The problem can be easily(?) solved by the concept of ‘Act-less Act’ .It simply means that act as if you are not acting. In this type of act, the person acts but claims no results. He simply accepts the result what ever it may be.It means do with total energy but do not desire anything. You just think of doing and surrender the fruits of it to the divine. The frustration, anger coming out of not getting the desired fruits will fade away.

Act-less Act is like walking in the sky…..You just walk without expecting any foot-prints.

Replacement is not the answer……..

Human shields greeted as they cross the border into Iraq

Change change change……..this what we want.No one is happy with what he is.No one is contented with what he is.What everyone wants is change.Ya I appreciate change if it is in the form of transformation.Replacement is not the way.If we replace today, we will again need the replacement after some days. The very reason is that replacement is not the answer.

This attitude of man should be replaced rather than any of his body part.Man is not ready to change himself at any cost. The most tragic part is that man is on the verge of forgetting the fact that humanity is not a destination but a bridge.A constant transformation is needed. But very sadly, humanity has developed a tendency of being stagnant.

Friedrich Nietzsche had developed a term named ‘super human’.He thought that the ultimate purpose of humanity is that every human should be like this super human. But I don’t believe in becoming anything. For me,each person, as he is , is valuable. What we need is a bit of transformation, a bit of vision, a bit of meditation.

Rather than changing or replacing any of his parts, what humans need is a deep understanding of his each and every part.

'No achievement' is the greatest achievement

Wings of Love, Joy, Peace and Hope for 2007

To be oneself is the greatest achievement that can ever a human being have.Somewhere there lies some basic mistake in our total approach towards life where achieving something is promoted as the goal of life.I wonder why there should be some achievement or some goal in our life?Cannot we remain happy as we are?

Trees are happy the way they are.I am not saying that we must stop our progress or leave everything and just seat.We also should try to do something….to raise our awareness. To be totally in tune with life is I think the greatest achievement.

Have we ever thought that in the process of running behind achievement or some goal we are losing the very totality of life?Is it right to run behind a future pleasure by making present a desert? For me, rather than running behind any future achievement,to be able to enjoy present without any worry is the real achievement.

The most strong obstacle in the way is mind. This mind can never allow us to sit silently.Mind remembers past, also it projects the future. To be beyond mind and hence to be beyond achievement is for me the greatest achievement…

Feel the Zen,Be the Zen…

When any religion is started or rather to be more precise, when any religion is established by followers of any enlightened master, the very beauty or the very essence disappears. Each and every religion was very wonderful when the master who was behind it was alive. Then the disciples try to organize the religion, make a foundation or some trust out of it. In this process the very beauty is lost. But, if we have a look, there are a very few religions which have prevented themselves from falling in this trap. Zen comes out to be one of the such religions.
The founder of Zen was Bodhidharma.Bodhidharma was a disciple of Buddha. When Bodhidharma was enlightened, he left for Japan. The word Zen comes out to be a synonym of the word Dhyana which Buddha in Pali language called Jhan and which was later in Japan pronounced as Zen. The beauty of Zen is that it combines both Taoism and Buddhism in it. It is very significant thing that Zen has not lost its beauty through the ages.
It is said that the truth can be realized through the absurdities. When you try to organize it, it just vanishes. It can be observed that when you are given a rule to follow, there is no scope for your own thinking or rather no scope for your consciousness. When a religion is organized, it gives nothing but rules. Rules do nothing but reduce your opportunities of being aware. In this context, Zen is really a very virtuous sect. Even today also there are a few Zen monks living in remote areas along with a small group of their followers. They do not form any organization nor are they interested in any recognition. They love to die unrecognized. Generally, disciples naturally have an urge that work or wisdom of their master should survive. In this very effort of preserving, they ruin it. Truth can never be preserved. It can be felt moment to moment. But, we humans, just like money, have a tendency to store the truth for the future and in this very process, the beauty is lost, the truth itself is lost
Specialty of Zen is that it focuses on living truth moment to moment. They will enjoy sitting with their master totally rather than recording his words to listen them in future. Zen works through absurdities. Many master of Zen were famous to enlighten their disciples through their absurd behaviors. This absurdity would include anything from hitting a disciple with Bamboo, or throwing a mind shattering Koan over him or directly throwing the disciple himself down the roof. The basic foundation of Zen can be said to be Zazen.Zazen is a very profound meditation technique which can be very lucidly described in a Haiku-
Doing nothing, just sitting….
Spring comes……..
And grass grows by itself……
Zazen simply means just sitting in a specific recommended posture. Just sitting means just sitting, without doing anything. The basic focus of Zen is concentrating mind at a single place and then shatter it in a single blow. There are many famous Zen masters such as Dogen, RInjhai, and Bokoju who are very famous for their strange methods of enlightening their disciples.
When there is any religion, there is a very big temptation to propagate it, expand it. Most religions lose their very core in the attempt of preserving or expanding the religion. The beauty of Zen lies in the fact that Zen just doesn’t care for its future. It believes in making present as fruitful as possible and I think this is the highest form of trust shown towards the existence.
